The Cachers in the city of The Colony, Texas with the support of the City and Chamber of commerce are planning a big Treasure Cache hunt for our first annual "PIRATE DAYS OF THE COLONY" Event Cache. GC1E99J To be Officialy Set on GC.com for October 18th AND then more pirate fun on the 19th 2008.
We will be promoting bringing Current cashers together here in The Colony as well as promoting the sport of GEOCACHING to many not currently cashing people, with scheduled GPS demonstrations, how to cache demonstrations. We are making multiple Cache placements in our city parks for everyone to hunt in addition to the event cache itself.
We are expecting current cashers and new ones. We are actively promoting the event in the newspaper and other means now. We will be updating ads to include more information as it is provided.
This will be a event with Treasure caches, prizes, live music, pirate performers and more all focused on treasure hunting, pirate fun and Geocaching, did I mention FUN? HA HAR!
The event is FREE to all and a sign in booth and stage will be set up to accommodate the crowd. We also plan on awarding cachers with exclusive event prizes, PathTags and one grand prize were hopeing to be a new Garmin hand held GPS unit.
We will be making this an annual event. I myself am volunteering to teach caching at the event and promote caching in our city parks and the sport in general.
Our event will be October 18th & 19th 2008 We have set up a website for more information on Pirate days of The Colony: www.piratedays.org and will be adding to it with caching information as we get Geocaching.com on board. (we are working with them now) With your help we hope to get the ball rolling and the word out.
For those with the means, We really need experienced cachers to help pull this off and volunteer later in the day after the GC.com Official meet and greet one day "event" is done Saturday morning the 18th. So Pirate up, dress up and bring the family.
Please contact me if you want volunteer information. _________________ "Them that live'll have a tale to tell." HA HAR!
