2007 MAGC Travel Bug Challenge "The Charge of the Bug Brigade"
Ending Note:
A couple of notes for you:
Every listing of had the mileage recalculated. some things missed earlier were corrected.
This had a major effect on 2nd/3rd place as they ended up switching finishes.
Rules Used were posted on the website (see Bellow). If a TB was actively skimming on 3/10 (when the rule went into effect), the next log entry was counted and then no other until a new cacher logged it out.
There were 6 cases where the geocaching.com website didn't have the mileage for the last drop. So, it was calculated it using this
website: http://jan.ucc.nau.edu/~cvm/latlongdist.html It is not believed to have made a significant difference (and didn't effect the top 5), but the endevour was to be as accurate as possible.
TB owner could repositions... when occured the mileage accrued during the reposition didn't count toward the race. (see some of the MIAs that were replaced)
Challenge Rules:
- The Travel Bug once registered in a cache may not be snail mailed to anyone for placement elsewhere. (Note: this
includes placement in a "Stargate Cache" The Stargate jump will not be computed in the bug total miles .
- The Travel Bug may not be handed off to some one doing a PCS, leave, TDY or vacation to log miles. Unless this occurs after they are launched “naturally
Further clarification: Post 03/10/07 this will include "Skimming" of caches by cachers. The logs of a skim (a cacher taking the bug to various caches) do not need to be removed but
the first cache where the bug is placed will be the only miles logged for competition.

- Each entrant must pledge an item to the "Prize kitty" such as swag from a nearby military installation (T-shirt, hat, Shot glass...) or GeoCoin
- All Travel Bug pages must have a link back to the MAGC website
